Master Woodcarver Yo Takimoto is back from Japan and returns to The Plant Provocateur for another amazing Japanese Woodcarving Workshop.  The workshop takes place on Sunday, September 24th from 1pm-4pm.  Reserve your spot today as they tend to go fast!  Yo teaches the meditative art of Japanese Kikezuri Woodcarving.  The art of Kikezuri asks the participant to leave their intentions behind and allow the wood's nature to emerge.  It's a very relaxing and surprisingly soothing process.  If you haven't experienced this amazing workshop...here's your chance!

EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. Future date to be announced!  Anyone up for some morning 'T'?  Terrarium that is.   Why not take some 'Me' time, come chill on the back patio, and commune with the plants as you learn how to create a cool living arrangement terrarium. 

Participants will learn how to create and care for their very own terrarium.  Each participant will receive a glass vessel as the canvas for their masterpiece.  Participants will have a collection of plants to choose from (including some from the TPP Private Collection), an assortment of stone, as well as a variety of decorative elements to compliment their creation.  This is a hands-on workshop so please come prepared to get your hands dirty.  Each participant takes home what they create!

There's something very elegant and chic about a Staghorn Fern mounted on wood.  It's botanical art!  So, after many requests, The Plant Provocateur is holding a Staghorn Fern Mounting Workshop where you make and take home your very own piece of living botanical art to hang indoors or out.  It's a trophy of fascinating flora that brings you closer to nature. 

Staghorn Ferns (Platycerium bifurcatum) naturally grow on tree branches and trunks.  So, mounting them is the perfect process for planting and growing these old world plants.  This workshop will show you how to select, mount, and care for your mounted Staghorn Ferns.  There will be a few surprise plants on hand that can also be mounted.  Each participant gets to make and take home what they create.

I've hinted at it for some time now.  Well it's finally here.  The Plant Provocateur Carnivorous Plant Workshop is happening Sunday, June 11th, 12-2pm.  This is a workshop for those interested in learning about, working with and experiencing the world of carnivorous plants.  Carnivorous plants are those plants that eat insects and do it in the most interesting ways.  Their savage beauty is absolutely fascinating. 

This workshop will teach you how to identify different types of carnivorous plants, how they eat, and how they grow.  Participants will get to choose (2) plants from a selection to pot up, cultivate, take home, and call their very own.  Additional plants will also be available for sale.  They grow beautifully on a windowsill or outside in the garden.  The Plant Provocateur has searched high and low for some truly unique, unusual, and captivating carnivorous plants for this workshop.  Come prepared to experience the strange, the mysterious, rare chicness of these botanical wonders. Perhaps like nothing you've seen before.

Workshop fee is $45.  This is a hands-on workshop, so please come prepared to get dirty and possibly a bit wet.  The fee includes all materials and instruction.  Tea and cake or something of the like will be served as well.  Workshop space is limited to 6 participants.  Tickets are available for purchase by clicking HERE.

I am very excited to announce that The Plant Provocateur will be holding 2 Holiday Wreath Workshops.  I've split the experience into smaller, more intimate workshop sessions.  Limit is 4 people per session.  So here's the deal...I will be teaching you how to create a holiday wreath that is beyond ordinary; that is something more extraordinary using unique plant material that is not your everyday pine branch or dried twig.  I want to open your eyes up to a world of creative possibilities that go outside of the usual holiday box. 

The workshop is $150 per person.  This includes instruction, wreath materials, and premium plant materials (which are the bulk of the workshop fee cost.  You'll be using the GOOD stuff!)  Each participant will leave with their very own extraordinary wreath.  Participants get to choose between making a table wreath centerpiece wreath or a hanging wreath.  I will share my secrets about which materials I have found make for a longer lasting wreath, as well as which materials dry beautifully. 

The workshops will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4th and Sunday, Dec. 11th from 11am-2pm.  No previous experience is needed.  The workshop will take place at The Plant Provocateur Shop on the patio.  Please note this is a hands-on workshop, if you have garden shears and/or gloves, feel free to bring them.  Additional materials will be provided.  Again, each session is limited to 4 people.  Reservation purchase is required to attend.  Tickets are available through the 'SHOP' menu of this website or via the following link: WORKSHOP RESERVATIONS.  The Plant Provocateur is located at 3318 W. I'm super excited to offer the very rare 'It' plant of home decor...Pilea peperomioides or Chinese Money Plant.  I've been seeing this plant featured in shoots for Vogue Magazine and Architectural Digest.  This plant is HOT!!! TPP has them planted in a rustic vessel for a limited time. $36.95 each.  Peperomia verticillata has a fresh, verdant vibe with its vein-patterned leaves on wandering stems.  Oh, what about Peperomia sandersii with its whimsical watermelon rind patterned foliage.  And lastly, from this bunch is the ultra mod Triangle Fig rarely found in this affordable small size.  Both Peperomias and Triangle Fig are only $12.95.  All plants are available in store only.

Everyone has been asking and now the time has come.  A fresh batch of Carnivorous Venus Flytraps and Sundews are available at TPP starting Sat. 6/18.  The 'Red Dragon' Venus Flytrap features foliage that turns deep wine colour with lots of sunlight.  The 'King Henry' Venus Flytrap features lemon-lime foliage and can produce individual flytraps up to 1" to 1 1/2" in size!!!  The Drosera sp. features small spoon-like foliage coated with dewdrop filaments that grab and consume small insects.  Excellent for getting rid of those pesky gnats and fruitflies.  Both Flytraps are $16.95 each and the Drosera is $11.95. 

For an added bonus, I'm also offering the absolutely beautiful Ludisia discolor 'Jewel Orchid'.  It features velvety pinstripe foliage.  Reminds me of plush tuxedo fabric.  These lovely orchids produce sweet white with yellow orchids usually from autumn through spring.  Their style is so elegant and lustrous.  $14.95 each.

Lastly, as an added curiousity, TPP will be offering Moonflower starts for a limited time.  This heirloom garden plant is a relative of the Morning Glory except it does its blooming at night. It can be grown in a pot or in the ground against a vertical surface where it can climb.   Flowers can be 6 inches across and perfume the night air with an intoxicating scent.  It's especially stunning when experienced under the light of the moon.  Seriously!  To show some customer appreciation these starts will be offered for $1 while supplies last.
