Paa Paa Paa Paa Passion! As in Passiflora otherwise known as Passion Fruit. Since moving into my new home I've been investigating what's been growing on while the yard was left wild, woolly, and unattended. On a fence over by the garage, home of the future studio, lives a wild rambling rope of Passiflora vine. The blossoms are incredible, as always, looking like some sort of upside-down psychedelic jelly fish that lives under an ocean a million miles away. The flowers then form a fruit that is lime green in the looks department. But wait...this vine is doing something peculiar. The fruits then become electric orange tempting the viewer to come closer. Touch me it whispers. The skin of the fruit is somewhat smooth yet rubbery. Then like a cadbury creme egg on Easter morning the fruit is split open to reveal the most amazing bounty of encapsulated bordeaux glazed seeds. The look of the ripped orange fruit flesh with the gluttonous glaze of seeds is absolutely surreal. Unlike the seeds of the edible passionfruit known as Passiflora edulis, these seeds are not very tasty. Its all about look! Very fashion forward some might say. The object alone would make the most amazing subject for a still life! Again, nature inspires.
