Private Eyes Are Watching You

I've seen Philodendron bipinnatifidum used as both a house plant and an outdoor plant providing some tropical flavor to the scenery.   Recently, I was walking down a path lined with these plants.  I felt as as though I was being watched.  When I stopped to check out what was going on I noticed something.  I was alone with the Philodendrons but I couldn't help but notice something about them.  In a figure of speech, they were watching me.  I noticed the crazy 'eyes' left from where the leaf petiole separates from the trunk of the plant.  They even have big ol' 'eye lashes'!  Kinda strange but very...intriguing!  I actually find it to be kind of cool.  The pattern they make sort of reminds me of a carving on a totem pole or a tiki image.  Got a poolside bar?  Why not plant a few of these babies around it for that tiki touch!  Want to throw a little tropical tone into that mid-century scene?  Find some cool streamline containers that can feature these tropical tantrums and their crazy 'eyes'.  Cue up the Hall and Oates and you've got a party!
