'Plantaholism': An addiction to plants.  'Plantaholic': A plant addict.  That about sums up The Plant Provocateur.  The latest obsession...orchids.  Gotta give a shout out to my fellow plantaholic Scott S. for introducing The Plant Provocateur to the spectacularly sensuous and seductive world of orchids.  Orchids can seem bland.  At least that's what The Plant Provocateur used to think.  Once I really started to check out the zillions of different orchids out there I found an alluring and engaging world of plant life.  If what you crave in your plant lust is a sense of the most unique, the most intriguing, and the most beguiling of flowers, look no further than orchids.  They produce some of the most fascinating flowers you could ever see.  Check out the above prize from a recent orchid show.  May I introduce to you the spectacle and wonder of Cirrhopetalum rothschildianum. It looks like something out of War of the Worlds and I can't get enough of it!  Beyond spectacular.

There are many different types of orchids out there.  Each with it's own unique aspect whether it be flowers, foliage, form, or culture.  Some are fairly easy to grow and care for, whereas others can definitely be challenging. In The Plant Provocateur's opinion, whichever route you go, the end result of growing and getting an orchid to bloom or having them in your midst is beyond satisfying.  It's an accomplishment complete with flowers beyond your imagination and in some cases, flowers that produce scents more heavenly than any perfume. Intriguing isn't it?  Check it out!
